IPTV Login Failed: Invalid Username, Password or Expired Account
Login errors are specific, and so are their fixes. This guide decodes the messages players show and tells you which ones you can solve yourself.

Short answer: if the error says 'invalid username or password', re-type the details by hand — copying and pasting is the most common cause. If it says the account is expired or a device limit has been reached, the fix is with your provider, not in the app.
Login failures are the most misdiagnosed problem in IPTV. The error message usually tells you exactly what is wrong, but players word things differently, so the same underlying issue can appear as three different messages.
What the error messages actually mean
'Invalid username or password' / 'Authentication failed' — the credentials sent to the server do not match the account. Causes, in order of likelihood: a typing or pasting error, an expired subscription, or a server address that has changed.
'Your account has expired' / 'Subscription ended' — the package period has finished. Only your provider can renew it.
'Device limit reached' / 'Maximum connections exceeded' — another device is already streaming on this account.
'Unable to connect' / 'Server not found' — the player cannot reach the server at all. This is a network or server address problem rather than a credential problem.
'Invalid URL' or 'Malformed playlist' — the address entered is incomplete. A truncated link is the usual reason.
Fix 1: Re-enter the details by hand
This solves more login failures than every other step combined.
- Delete the profile from the player completely.
- Type the server address, username and password manually, character by character.
- Watch for these specific traps:
- A trailing space at the end of the username or password
- Capital letters typed as lower case, or the reverse
- The number 0 typed as the letter O, or 1 typed as the letter l
- A missing
http://at the start of the server address - A missing port number at the end, such as
:8080
- Save and log in again.
If your credentials came through a messaging app, ask your provider to send them again in a plain format, or read them aloud.
Fix 2: Check the subscription status
Renewal dates creep up. If the account period has ended, no amount of troubleshooting in the app will help.
Check your provider's records or your own notes for the expiry date. If it has passed, renewing restores access immediately, usually without any change to the login details.
Fix 3: Clear the device limit
If the error mentions devices or connections, another stream is running.
- Open the player on every other device in the house and close it properly.
- Wait 60 seconds for the server to release the slot.
- Try again on the device you want to use.
Some players hold a connection open in the background after you leave the app. Force stopping the app is more reliable than pressing back. Our multi-room guide explains how many simultaneous streams a household typically needs.
Fix 4: Rule out the network
If the message is about connecting rather than credentials, test whether the server is reachable at all.
- Try the same login on mobile data using your phone as a hotspot. If it works, your home network is the problem.
- Restart the router and unplug it for 30 seconds.
- Change the DNS server to a public resolver such as
1.1.1.1, either on the router or on the individual device. - If you use a VPN, try switching it off, and vice versa — see our guide to VPNs for IPTV.
Fix 5: Rule out the app
If the same details work in one player and fail in another, the app is at fault.
- Update it from your device's official store.
- Clear its cache from Settings, Apps, then Storage.
- Try a different player to confirm — our round-up of the best IPTV apps lists the main ones, and the IPTV Smarters setup guide covers the most common player step by step.
Troubleshooting checklist
- Re-type all credentials manually
- Confirm no extra spaces were included
- Check the subscription expiry date
- Close the player on every other device
- Restart the router and the streaming device
- Test on mobile data to isolate the network
- Change the DNS server
- Update or reinstall the player app
- Contact your provider with the exact error message and the device you are using
Common mistakes
- Assuming the provider is at fault before re-typing the details. Typos account for most failures.
- Sharing login details with friends or family outside the household, which uses up connections and can get an account suspended.
- Trying to reset the password yourself. Credentials are issued by the provider; there is no self-service reset in the player.
- Changing three things at once, then not knowing which one helped.
- Reinstalling the app before checking the subscription. The subscription is the far more likely cause.
Tips that prevent login problems
- Store your login details somewhere secure and searchable — you will need them on every new device.
- Note the expiry date in your calendar with a week's notice.
- Keep the player app on automatic updates.
- Use one player app across your household so everyone learns the same menus.
- Log out properly on devices you no longer use.
The bottom line
Start with the credentials themselves, then the subscription, then the network. That order resolves the overwhelming majority of login failures without any need to involve your provider — and when you do need them, quoting the exact error message gets you a much faster reply.
